International Booker Prize
Time Shelter by Georgi Gospodinov. Written in Bulgarian, the book was translated into English by Angela Rodel and became the first Bulgarian language novel to be nominated for, and then win, the International Booker Prize.
The novel follows the emergence of multi floored clinics deseloped for persons with Alzheimers where each floor is set up to fully live in a different but defined decade. The clinics are created by Gaustine, a psychiatrist. The novel unfolds with an unnamed narrator. As popularity in the clinics rises, healthy people turn to the clinics to lead lives of their choice in a time of the past.
